Let me begin by telling you about myself.
Professionally speaking I have a background in nursing and teaching pregnant teens parenting skills. This led naturally into being a post natal Doula. Every family has a different situation and a different reason for needing a Doula so I bring a variety of experience to my role as well as all the experience I have gained from being mum to 3 children, 2 of whom are twins.

The experience of labour and childbirth brings sudden and dramatic changes to women and their partners. It is not something to take lightly or to struggle through on your own if at all possible. I most frequently help women who have no family nearby and are needing an extra ‘mum’ to help keep on top of home life and give important emotional support to.

Doula UK, the national association of Doulas sums up the role of the Doula as follows: ‘Doulas offer continuous emotional and practical support to women and couples through pregnancy, birth and early parenting days. Her role is to nurture the mother and new family.’
